Michelle Obama

I watched Michelle Obama speak to a crowd at the DNC Wednesday (the day might be incorrect) and my admiration for her grew. I listened to what she said and I realized above all things she's just like you and me. She's a normal woman (in some sense) who wants the very best for her family and her country. What more could you ask for. Michelle Obama should become the new face of what other's (and you know who I mean when I say that) see when they talk about Black women. She should replace the images of welfare mothers, angry and bitter women, and other negative stereotypes. In reality she is what we all are - strong, independent, loyal, hardworking, educated, eloquent...I could go on but I won't. I admire her for what she has done and what she will do. I admire her for standing up to critics who called her un-American and who took everything little thing both she and her husband did and twisted it out of context. This chick is bad!!

History in the Making

I don't know how many of you watched the DNC last week. Since the beginning of this campaign I've felt like it was truly history in the making. But last week - after Sen. Kennedy, after Michelle Obama, after Sen. Hillary Clinton, after Sen. Joe Biden, after former Pres. Bill Clinton and finally after Barack Obama himself spoke it all of a sudden hit me that this is real. Sen. Barack Obama could in fact become the next President of the US. Watching bits and parts of the DNC, hearing the speeches, seeing the crowds re-energized me.

Specifically the concept of CHANGE from the bottom up hit home. I thought, what am I doing, what have I done to make a difference in someone's life? I thought not much and so decided to do what I do best. I want to make a difference and this is a start.

So what are YOU doing to make CHANGE happen from the bottom up? If you're not doing anything, why not start. If you're doing something - do more if you can. It's up to all of us to make this world a better place for everyone.
